Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Mountain Operations Director to lead and oversee all facets of mountain operations, ensuring a seamless, safe, and exceptional experience for visitors and staff alike. This pivotal role involves developing innovative operational strategies, managing large-scale projects, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. As a senior leader, you will drive operational excellence, optimize processes, and build strong partnerships to elevate the overall performance of our mountain resort. Your energetic leadership will inspire teams, streamline operations, and contribute to the long-term success of our mountain community.

Responsibilities

  • Lift Maintenance: Manage the daily operation and preventative maintenance of our lift systems to ensure 100% safety and compliance.
  • Snowmaking: Lead the charge on our snowmaking system; monitor weather windows and manage water/air production to build a durable base.
  • Grooming: Oversee (and jump in the cab as needed) grooming operations to deliver top-tier surface conditions.
  • Facilities & Grounds: Handle general hill maintenance, including summer trail work, drainage, and equipment repair.
  • Leadership: Manage a small, dedicated seasonal crew, fostering a culture of safety and pride in the "private club" standard.

Requirements

  • The "Swiss Army Knife": You have a solid background in mechanical maintenance, electrical systems, or heavy equipment operation.
  • Experience: Previous experience in ski area operations (specifically lifts, grooming, and snowmaking) is required.
  • WNY Tough: You’re comfortable working in the unique, often unpredictable weather of Western New York.
  • Communication: Since we are a private club, you will interact with members; a professional, helpful attitude is a must as well as coordinate closely with the General Manager.

Year-Round Ski Resort Mechanic

Job Description

Hunt Hollow Ski Club, a private ski resort in the Finger Lakes, is seeking a reliable, skilled Year-Round Mechanic to join our operations team. This role is essential to keeping our mountain, equipment, and facilities running safely and efficiently through all seasons.

If you enjoy hands-on mechanical work, problem-solving, and working in a scenic outdoor environment, this is a great opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair ski resort equipment, including:
  • Snowmaking equipment
  • Groomers
  • Lifts (mechanical components)
  • Small engines and vehicles
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues
  • Assist with facility maintenance projects during the off-season
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records
  • Follow safety protocols and support a safe working environment

Qualifications

  • Mechanical experience required (diesel, small engine, automotive, or industrial)
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical systems
  • Welding and fabrication skills a plus
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be dependable and able to work in varying weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license required
